Are YOU having FUN?
Yeah right.
What a dumb question, middle of summer in a new fitness business and hot outside. The electric/AC bill will be huge this month, I just had to move all this heavy equipment and the questions from all the members are a pain.
Are you having fun?
Yeah I know it's 4AM- I couldn't sleep, so I read, that's what I do.
I just finished Richard Bransons latest book, Screw It Let's Do It Lessons in Life
This is a very short book, I have read several about him, and his two bios but this is really a summation of his thoughts about life and business.

To share and paraphrase:
Just Do It
Think Yes, not NO
Challenge Yourself
Have Goals
Have Fun
Make a difference
Stand on your own feet
Be Loyal
Live Life to the Full
Make every second count and Have no regrets.
Things that seem simple, too simple to even mention get lost.
While Rick was out of the Lenexa club for a few minutes yesterday, a member came in that had not seen the new circuit, I was in the middle of several things but decided to get out there and help him with learning the changes. I did my job, we laughed a little and he got a good workout. Checked his HR, marked his card and said goodbye. What I should have done right?
Well here comes Rick back from a break, he is running around when another member comes in. Rick welcomes the member, hoots and hollers about how cool the changes in the circuit are, and gets excited about taking this guy through. Rick laughs, stays wild eyed, has fun and most importantly the member catches the contagious enthusiasm that is just oozing out of him. The member loves his time in the club, he had fun doing something not fun because Rick made it fun. Now the guy I took care of knows I was in the middle of other things therefore appreciative I stopped and showed him through. The guys Rick took through the circuit yesterday had fun, really had fun working out because he wasn't just doing his job for the members, he was actually genuinely having a great time. Now I am fun most of the time, but yesterday it was a struggle for me and I would not have even noticed my demeanor had it not been for Rick coming in and blowing the doors off the boredom of exercise with energy, enthusiasm and passion.
I noticed that what I had gotten in a routine of delivering had lost some zeal, some punch, some FUN for me even if only for a moment, which translates and trickles to the members experience. When a member leaves your club, did they have fun because you made it fun, or did they just get a great program at a great place for a great price?
Are YOU having fun?
Making your club fun for members has many advantages, mostly retention and loyalty, but includes promotion opps as well. Take the extra energy needed to deliver FUN along with your services. Fun in large doses, energy, enthusiasm and persistence pays huge dividends.Richard Branson says above all else HAVE FUN.
Have a great Tuesday
